Have I mentioned that I love this Closet Confidence challenge!? I’m pretty sure I’ve conveyed my love for this challenge every single day…and it’s only Day 3. Hehe. I cannot believe how great I already feel about style and clothing. I was feeling incredibly lost and down prior to this week, so am welcoming the good vibes as a result of today’s Closet Confidence challenge.
Go into a store and try on the most daring thing you can find!
I went into BCBGMAXAZRIA, knowing that it wouldn’t disappoint. BCBG is by far my favourite place to shop and I could see every single piece in there being part of my closet. I used to get most of my clothes there, until I started gaining weight in the last two years of university and was no longer able to pick up my usual size and fit into it perfectly. I vowed that I wouldn’t shop there again until I got back to that size. Well, that is just silly talk I tell you! I went into BCBG today and picked out items I would never in a million years normally select.
Mady Metallic Lace Camisole Top(affiliate link)
This sheer lace metallic camisole top was probably the most daring piece. I threw it on not expecting much, but – TAH DAH – instant transformation! This camisole made me feel sexy, but not an inappropriate kind of sexy. I can actually see myself wearing this on a regular basis under a blazer with jeans or trousers and fabulous pumps.
Of course, I couldn’t pick only one piece to try on for this challenge. What would be the fun in that? Here are a few more pieces I consider daring!
Dallin Pleated Metallic Maxi Skirt(affiliate link)
OK, I lied. THIS metallic pleated maxi skirt was the most daring thing I tried on. It was all sorts of awesome. A burnished gold metallic-foil fabric, perfectly pleated and incredibly comfortable to wear. I think I could pair this piece with many things: a basic white tee, this black lace camisole, a classic button-up. The iPhone photos do not do it justice in the slightest. I love it.
Alese Metallic Geometric Lace Dress(affiliate link)
The iPhone photos don’t do this dress justice either. It is slightly sheer and the pattern is a beautiful metallic that is in no way tacky. It fit so well and the pattern sits beautifully on the body. I felt like a lady in this lovely piece. Instant happiness as soon as this zipped up.
I didn’t end up purchasing this dress, but if there are any parties that pop up between now and Christmas, I might need to rush back into the store and grab this.
Although, I JUST found out that this dress is on sale on BCBG.com with their Take an Extra 50% Off at Checkout! Kind of feels stupid not to go for it, but I can’t realistically justify this purchase right now.
I wouldn’t consider the below pieces daring per se, but they caught my interest. For this reason, I couldn’t resist trying them on. All three pieces are not anything I would have picked up off the rack, but I am so glad I did! The stripes and florals I was talking about in this post are represented by these pieces and I felt great in all of them!
All in all, a successful trip that boosted my morale by showing me that I can wear things I consider out of the box and still feel comfortable and beautiful.
